This is a good place to start to get an idea of what the quality of the hotel is.
If you’re going to buy a hotel, you want to pick one with a pretty good reputation, one that is reasonably priced, and one that has a good number of freebies, like the free breakfast buffet. The cheap hotels do a pretty good job of these things, but they’re also often crowded and they have a really annoying attitude.
Do you really want to pay the extra $250 to get a hotel? The idea is that you will get a discount once you get a hotel, but you won’t get a discount because you’d prefer a hotel with more amenities and a better reputation. There are plenty of reasons why you should buy a hotel.
My suggestion is that if you’d rather have a cheap hotel than a nice hotel, use the cheap one. I’m not saying that you will get better service, or that the cheap hotel is necessarily better, but if you have a choice between an expensive hotel and a cheap one, the cheap one is the less expensive of the two.
One of the first things people will ask about is the hotel’s location. It’s not about the location of the hotel, it’s about the location of the hotel’s location. So if you are looking for a hotel that is close to your place of business, or a hotel that is away from your place of business, then this may be a good option.
The other thing I think people often forget is that a cheap hotel may be less expensive than a more expensive one. A cheap hotel may be a 10% discount off the normal rate. A more expensive hotel may be a 25% discount off the normal rate. If the cheap one does more with less, people are more likely to stay there.
When I worked in the UK, people asked me if we were going to change the price of hotels. The answer was always, “No.” It’s just another way for the hotels to earn money off the customer base.
When I was in London, I stayed in two cheap hotels in one of my old haunts, the Chancery. Each one cost £3. The first one was a 2nd floor room, and had a very small fridge, and a small shower. The second was on the 3rd floor of a much larger hotel, and had a much bigger fridge and a small shower. The difference in the quality between the cheap and more expensive hotels was pretty stark.
They’re both just as bad as they seem to be. At least they aren’t cheap as the name implies. They don’t have a large range of amenities like other hotels. They don’t have a range of food or dining options. They don’t have a range of drink choices. They don’t have a range of services.
In fact, their prices are so low that you have to look very hard to find a hotel that isn’t a bargain basement. While this is a common complaint I hear from most visitors, it’s especially true for those who are looking for cheap hotels in SoHo. Most of the cheap hotels seem to be in the 5-7 star variety, which I think is a little unfair.
