I’m sure many of us have heard the following phrase before: ‘God is not a god of judgment, but a good, faithful God who directs His people to do good, just and right, and who invites us to do the same of what is pleasing in his sight.
It appears that the phrase is actually a phrase that people use when they feel that God is wrong. It is a term to express this kind of prideful thinking that some of us have. In the context of the trailer, God is a God of “what is pleasing in his sight.” He isn’t a jerk who has a list of things that are “not right,” nor is He a God of chaos and destruction. He is a God of justice and love.
The translation was as follows.
God is a God of justice and love. He is not a God of chaos and destruction.
This is the first time in the series that we have seen that God is not a God of chaos and destruction. The other references to God being a God of justice and love have been in the movie, not the trailer. If you want to know more about what makes God a God of love, you should check out the movie ‘The Godfather’.
The trailer and the movie both use this trope quite a bit. The Godfather is one of the first movies to delve into the Catholic mythology of God as a God of justice. This is an interesting idea that was popularized by the likes of Francis Bacon and Thomas Hobbes. In his book The Heavens, Bacon argues that God is not a God of chaos or destruction because the only time He creates order is when He uses His will to destroy order.
I think the Godfather is actually a classic case of this trope, because it’s the first of three movies that deals with the myth of the God of love. The Godfather is also the first movie that actually makes God a loving God, not a God of destruction. Bacon’s God is actually a loving God who creates order, not a God of destruction.

On a lighter note, my girlfriend and I are both learning Spanish to try and improve our conversations.
Apparently there are a lot of Spanish-speaking god fans out there. My girlfriend’s family is from Mexico, and so she’s trying to understand what the Spanish for “God” are, so that she can learn to communicate with her God.
