Mother’s day is coming soon in russia and for those of us that haven’t been there, I would like to share a little bit about the food, gifts, and festivities that go along with this special day. The first Mother’s day in russia was in the late 90s where the country celebrated women in a number of ways. The main event was the grand celebration where all the wives visited the capital city of the republic with their daughters.
The next major celebration was in 2012 for women where the government decided to officially recognize it as Mother’s Day in Russia. I was born in the USSR so these celebrations were a big deal for me. The whole thing was a huge party with big fireworks, but the day was also a day to honor the women of the country. I mean, women of the country.
I was in the airport at the time so I can’t really comment, but I guess it was pretty cool to have a day in Russia on the mother’s day, which is supposed to be a day to celebrate the importance of motherhood, but also to encourage women to have children, and it’s not too uncommon to be asked for your daughter’s age. I also think that this is one of the more interesting days to celebrate mothers.
Well, apparently, there are so many women who are now mothers that the official state holiday in Russia is now called “Mother’s Day”. The reason for the change is to acknowledge the fact that women are having more children than ever before, and to put on a show for the rest of us that everyone is having children.
Mother’s Day in Russia is often celebrated with gifts and cards as mothers and grandmas bring home parcels of food that are intended to be shared with their young children. The first Mothers Day in the new year, however, was more of a commercial exercise as the organizers decided to put on a “mother’s day” party for the “mothers” out there.
Birthdays in Russia and the United States were both a big part of Mother’s Day celebrations, as was the case in the United States. It’s always a shock to see parents in Russia and the United States today when you’re expecting a baby.
A lot of big-name celebrities were all over the mother’s day party, including the world-famous (to the world anyway) “Mama!” Lena Dunham, who’s also got some pretty awesome tattoos (and more than a few not so awesome tattoos), and Anna Kournikova.
The other big-name celebrities were all over the United States. Their birthday celebrations were all so much fun that you didn’t see them in the American version because they were all so much fun to be around.
Here is one of the most adorable mothers day gifts ever. A simple baby shower gift to remember your special day.
What’s better than the gift that keeps on giving? Gift after gift after gift until you get to the last one. The gift of the last? A party with so many of your favorite artists and musicians that you cant stop singing along to their songs. It’s an awesome moment.
